Easter 2009

The kids had a great time hunting for Easter eggs in the backyard. Nathan just wanted the eggs with candy, Gabe, Collin, Danielle, Michelle and Kassidy seemed to like the eggs with money and Emily just did her own thing. A good time was had by all.

Valley Elementary Jogathon 2009

Yesterday was the Jogathon at Valley Elementary. It is one of the biggest fundraisers they do every year. The students have 20 minutes to run, jog or walk around the .22 mile track. Parents and teachers can also run for fun. Each grade level has a 30 min. time frame before the next grade levels turn. Kassidy ran a total of 6 laps. While we were watching Kassidy, Emily decided she wanted to join in. She took off running down the track too. Collin ran a total of 7 laps. It seems that 6 or 7 laps was the norm. The winner ran a total of 12 laps. After the kids run, they each get an otter pop to cool down with before going back to class. During the entire event, there is someone on a microphone cheering them on and lots of loud music. It's pretty exciting. All the kids had a great time. The one picture is of Kassidy and her teacher Mrs. Ochoa. Kassidy is very fortunate to have a teacher that won an award and $25,000.00 for being one of the top teachers in the nation.

Crazy Hair Day

Yesterday was crazy hair day at Valley Elementary. Kassidy wanted to do something fun, so I braided her hair with pipe cleaners so that it would stick out everywhere. She likes to do crazy stuff like that.

Fieldtrip

Last week, Kassidy and I went on a floating sea lab fieldtrip. It was a lot of fun. Everyone got to participate in pulling in the drag line to see what was caught. There were a number of ray's, a couple of fish, lobster, star fish, sponge just to name a few. Everyone was able to touch and pick up the sea life. We also got to look at drops of water under a microscope to see all the plankton. A couple weeks prior, Collin and Dave went on Collin's overnight fieldtrip aboard the Californian. They reenacted the life of a merchant sailor in the year 1774. Some of the duties included swabbing the deck and night watch. They were divided into small groups and had to take turns doing night watch for 1 1/2 hrs. They had a great time. The next day they got to sail the boat around the bay. Unfortunatly, we do not have pictures because they were not allowd to bring cameras. There were a couple of people with cameras, so hopefully we can get copies from them to share with you.

Horsing Around

Collin and Kassidy are great entertainers. Wrestling and horseback rides are just a couple of games the four of them like to play together. Nathan and Emily don't like it so much when they have to be the horse though.
Ha Ha. Just kidding.

Backyard Fun

Nathan and Emily love to play in the yard. They really enjoy being outside. Beside the occasional roughhousing by Nathan they play together pretty well.
